Key features

Why projects specify these ducts

Four properties that decide how the tendon void behaves before, during and after grouting.

01

Smooth internal profile for grouting

The internal profile lets grout move freely along the duct once the strand is installed, so the void form stays workable through the grouting stage.

02

Excellent concrete bond

The corrugated profile develops bond between duct and concrete, which is what carries the strand-concrete action in bridges, buildings and segmental construction.

03

Available in metal and plastic

Supplied as steel duct with galvanized protection or HDPE duct with full plastic protection, in diameters from 50 mm to 150 mm to FIB, EN or AASHTO requirements.

04

Leak-tight connections

Duct sections join with leak-tight connections and are cut to the lengths your tendon layout requires, keeping the void form intact for strand installation.

Technical answer

What is a corrugated duct pipe for post tension systems?

Definition

A corrugated duct pipe is the void former that a post-tensioning tendon is installed into before grouting. Global Overseas supplies steel and HDPE ducts in diameters from 50 mm to 150 mm, cut to the lengths your drawings require, in galvanized or full plastic corrosion protection. The duct creates the void for strand installation and develops the bond between the strand and the surrounding concrete, so the tendon works as part of the finished structure.

Typical applications are bridges, buildings and segmental construction, where ducts are supplied to FIB, EN or AASHTO requirements depending on the project specification. Steel duct is chosen where a stiffer void former is needed; HDPE duct is used where a fully plastic, corrosion-protected system is specified. Because ducts are made to order in custom cut lengths, the duct diameter, wall type, corrosion protection, connection detail and required length should be stated in the inquiry together with the quantity and destination port.

Specification

What to state in the RFQ

Duct type (steel or HDPE), diameter 50–150 mm, wall type, corrosion protection (galvanized or full plastic), standard (FIB, EN or AASHTO), custom cut lengths, quantity, packing method, destination port and any inspection requirement.

Compatibility

Compatibility

Confirm the tendon geometry, strand diameter and anchorage detail before ordering. Duct selection must follow the project engineer’s drawings and the anchorage supplier’s compatibility requirements.
